  • The actions people take in response to earth's natural cycles

  • Balanced
  • Inquirers
  • Knowledgeable
  • Appreciation
  • Curiosity
  • Tolerance
Trans disciplinary Skills:
  • Research Skill
  • Thinking Skill

KG l learners started the fourth unit "How The World Works". They started the unit with the game "Simon says..." as the provocation. Teachers asked them "Simon says its day. What will you do? Its night time. What will you do? Its hot/ Its cold. What will you do?" Learners showed the activities we do during the day and night time through actions.

The game was followed by a discussion where learners discussed about the activities they do during the day and night time. They inquired about the causes behind night and day. They learned about how the day and night are happening. They came to know about the natural cycles like day and night, seasons etc. and how these natural cycles play a very important role in the activities of living things.

Learners are also learning counting objects. They are inquiring about the number of different objects from around the classroom. Today they counted the number of male and female students in the classroom, the number of tables and chairs, pencils etc. They counted the objects and wrote the numbers.

EYP Exhibition and Student Led Conference

Learners performed in the EYP Exhibition to demonstrate a glimpse of their learning journey. Being split into two groups learners first performed in the EYP Exhibition and then they led the conference to exhibit their learning.

Our little performers created a theater in the classroom and choose the story "The Ugly Duckling" to act out. This is the performance of the first group.

As the unit was focused on stories learners learnt to create and present their own stories. They brought some artifacts from home.

Learners dressed as different story characters for the exhibition.

They are presenting their own stories to their parents.

I know who's there!
Little inquirers are very excited while identifying the story characters and explaining to their parents.

The little ones are engaged in different learning corners to demonstrate their learning. They performed some counting tasks in the Mathematics corner and they worked on identifying sounds and reading/writing words in the language corner.

Learners presenting their portfolios to their parents.

Teachers also joined in the exhibition dressed as different characters. Ms. Fatema dressed as a witch, Ms. Pravati dressed as a mouse, Ms. Tahmina as Parvati and Ms Aliza as Pinnochio.

Prior Knowledge Checking

Learners are being assessed on their prior knowledge. Different tables were set up with seasonal clothes, accessories, fruits and flowers. learners had a gallery walk and identified each season from discussing about the displayed items.

Learners inquired about day and night as a part of learning about natural cycle. They made an experiment on what causes day and night. The experiment was done with a globe and torch light. After the experiment learners came to know that the rotation of earth around the sun creates day and night.

Learners watched videos on weather and seasons in the ICT class to collect more information about natural cycles.

They drew different types of weather using MS Paint.

Learners are learning the name of seven days of the week. They learnt the spelling and wrote the name of the seven days in the copy.

The little ones were working on  numbers. They counted the objects drawn on the board and wrote the number.

Our learners gathered information about the Bangla letters. Bangla teachers showed some Bangla letters with flash cards.

With the use of ICT as a tool , KG l learners learnt drawing different seasons and weather by using MS Paint.

Learning the name of the days through fun activity. Each of the learner was named as a day such as one was named as Saturday, another was named as Sunday. They organize themselves according to the sequence and they stand one after another.

Another beautiful activity for kids to learn pattern. They were given color papers. they cut the color paper, made small pieces and made different pattern with the small pieces of papers.

Learners are watching videos on pattern.

While learning more about seasons learners demonstrated their understanding on seasons through mind maps. Being split into four groups each group worked on different seasons. They brainstormed and showed their understanding of the focused content through illustration.

Glimpse of activities done while learning the mother tongue. Teachers showed letter flash cards and learners drew objects related to the letter on the whiteboard.

The tiny tots are ready with colorful attire to welcome spring season.

They are coming out of the classroom for a nature walk to observe and inquire the changes that have taken place in nature in spring season.

The tiny inquirer are very busy inquiring about the changes in the weather, changes in the color of the leaves. They are observing and discussing the changes in nature with their groups.

They brought some seasonal (Spring) fruits and flowers in the classroom. They discussed and sorted the seasonal fruits and flowers and then shared with their friends and teachers.

Some wonderful moments with Head of PYP and Head of School. They warmly welcomed our little learners and learners wished them "Happy Spring" with flowers.

Learners made a T-Chart on day and night sky objects.

To celebrate International Mother language Day learners participated in a Bangla handwriting competition.

Glimpses of International Mother Language Day 2020. Our learners payed homage to the language martyrs by offering flowers to the Shaheed Minar.

KG l learners performed a rhyme in their mother tongue on the program.

Learners are learning about addition. They are counting different sets of given objects in total and writing the number.

In the "Going Further" phase of their inquiry learners planned to arrange a seasonal carnival. Each of them choose one season and demonstrated his/her learning on that season.

Learners demonstrated their learning on seasons by arranging the seasonal carnival. They displayed and sold some seasonal food, cloth and accessories.

Later, learners reflected on their learning through a 3,2,1 strategy where they drew picture of the two things they liked about the carnival and they drew one wish that could make the carnival better in the reflection paper.

With the money learners earned from the carnival they decided to buy some food for the support staffs as the appreciation of their hard work. They bought some food items and presented to the support staffs.

Learners are inquiring about hibernation and migration from videos. They learnt about some animals that hibernate and some birds that migrate to other countries during different seasons. Later on reflected on their learning through group discussion. They were working on the second line of inquiry which was "Pattern of behavior in living things in response to different natural cycles".

Learners are learning about indoor and outdoor games through a Venn diagram. They sorted out the indoor and outdoor games and then pasted in the correct places.

Learners are learning about weather in different countries such as Africa, Switzerland, Egypt and different parts of India such as Rajsthan, Cherrapunji and Darjeeling. Later on they are reflecting on their learning through a KWL chart.

Learners are inquiring about family words. They are brainstorming on 'at' family words and writing the words in a mind map.

In the library class learners are reading weather related stories and making a mind map on the stories with the three parts of stories - beginning, middle and end.

We have started distant learning through google classroom as the school is called off for the time being. Our learners are gradually joining in google classroom and started to submit the given tasks and assignments.

Learners were given a worksheet on google classroom on addition. They solved the addition problems and submitted the given task.

Learners are receiving and submitting assignments on each discipline. They are being given the links of different videos. They are also given reading materials. They are inquiring and sharing their knowledge through google classroom.

Learners are solving addition problems within 10. They are counting objects with picture clues and writing the total number on the worksheet.

Learners are getting used to online assignments. They are completing the given tasks and uploading the documents.
